FMDG vs. HCRD Results

HCRD road-tripped to Fargo Moorhead this past weekend to bout the Fargo Moorhead Derby Girls. FMDG put on an awesome production and the Fargo Moorhead Civic Center was sold out to watch roller derby!!! FMDG took charge in the first half and there was quite a wide point spread as of halftime. However, HCRD came out of halftime with a new strategy in mind and we were able to match points with FMDG in the second half! This was a first bout for several of our girls, and we are all extremely proud of the hard work, sweat, and tears that everyone put in to this bout. Final score: 176 FMDG - 75 HCRD.

We hit some bad weather on the trip home, and unfortunately two of our derby caravan vehicles were damaged in car accidents (one rolled over and one was totalled). Thankfully, there were only a few relatively minor injuries, and our girls plan to heal quickly so that we can be on full power for our rematch with FMDG on our home turf on March 20!!! But first, we are back on the road again to Appleton, WI, for a first-time bout against the Fox Cityz Foxz.

Donation to Safe Haven Shelter

As a result of our home bout "Twas The Fight Before Christmas" we were able to donate $525 to the Safe Haven Shelter! We are so excited to be able to help out such a wonderful organization!

HCRD vs. Mississippi Valley Mayhem Results

'Twas the Fight Before Christmas was a huge success! HCRD came out on top, winning the bout against the Mississippi Valley Mayhem 165-158. As always, it was wonderful to see our Mayhem friends and to meet some new derby friends from Thunder Bay Roller Girls. Everyone skated their hearts out and provided an awesome show for 250 spectators. The event was sold out within a week and people were being turned away at the doors. Stay tuned for our next planned home bout in March!

Helping Animals Find Homes

As a result of our gift-wrapping adventures at Harley Davidson Sports Center these past two weekends, we were able to help raise over $500 in donations for the Animal Allies Humane Society! Not only that, but every dog that shelter employees brought to Harley Davidson ended up finding a new home! Even a 13-year-old Lab who could have spent his last days in the shelter ended up finding a home! We were honored to have been a part of this cause and look forward to doing it again next year. Please remember that there are several animal shelters in our area: Animal Allies in Duluth, Animal Rescue Federation in Superior, Douglas County Humane Society, and Friends of Animals in Cloquet, to name just a few. All of these organizations are in dire need of donations, supplies, and volunteers. Please consider supporting any of these organizations.

Donations are very welcome and will go to benefit Animal Allies. Stop in, do some shopping, get your gifts wrapped, and check out a few of the many animals that are available for adoption at Animal Allies. Motorcycles, animals, and roller derby....these are a few of our favorite things!!! We want to thank Harley Davidson Sports Center for providing this opportunity for us to promote our league and raise some money for homeless pets.

The Harbor City Roller Dames are very excited to announce that we are hosting a bout on December 19, 2009, beginning at 10:00 p.m., at the World of Wheels Skate Center, against the Mississippi Valley Mayhem from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Tickets are only $7 and are there are only a limited amount available. Hit up any of your favorite roller girls, referees, or non-skating officials to purchase your tickets! There will be a cash bar available. This is a family-friendly event, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Safe Haven Shelter for Battered Women. After-bout festivities will be held at Carmody Irish Pub in Downtown Duluth.
