Lowered Recruitment Age!

Hey friends! Especially lady-friends! The skating body of HCRD has made the decision to lower our required age for skaters. Skater-hopefuls, you can get your derby on with us two years earlier as we now recruit ages 19+!!!

This is the perfect time to start skating with Harbor City Roller Dames, as we are in our off-season training hard for Season #2 starting up in September! There is plenty of practice time in store over the summer, so we hope this lowered recruitment age means we will see even more new faces at the rink!

We practice Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:45pm - 7:45pm at World of Wheels Skate Center (1218 Oakes Ave, Superior). Our practices are closed to the general public, but we welcome anyone with interest in joining the league to stop by! Any questions or for more information on getting involved with the Northland's ORIGINAL women's flat-track roller derby league you can contact us here, on Facebook, or call our league phone at 218-348-0705.

First Season Nearly Complete!

Hello to our wonderful friends, fans and family!

This is just a note to let you all know how appreciative Harbor City Roller Dames are for your support since our first offical season began in December. This weekend, Saturday June 12, finds your Dames on the road in La Crosse, WI taking on our nemesisters Mississippi Valley Mayhem at Green Island Ice Arena. This bout is HCRD's final bout of the season!

Just today, HCRD presented a check for $1500 to the Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault's "Emergency Assistance Fund"! This donation came from proceeds from our May 1 bout "A Homegrown Port-Town Throw-Down!" As our season winds down, we can look back proudly upon the past 6 months knowing we were able to give back around $4000 to our community. This is very important to our league!

Our summer will find us further organizing league operations, recruiting, training, finding ways to get you out to have fun with us, and preparing for the first bout of our second season beginning in September! We are seeking Sponsors for our new season, so if you are part of a business or organization that would be interested in supporting/partnering with HCRD, get in touch with us!

Where HCRD is at this moment has been a long time coming for a number of us involved. With a change in leadership this past October we took the league in a direction that proved to be the right one, and it just keeps getting bigger & better for us. Keep your ears & eyes open for different events we will take part in over our summer off-season!!

If you or someone you know is interested in roller derby, we practice Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 5:45pm - 7:15pm, at World of Wheels Skate Center in Superior. We currently recruit women 21+ to skate, but we also recruit men & women for a number of referee/non-skating official/volunteer needs.
